Emotional Mirrors
From a very early age, I found it fascinating to study people's faces through drawings, their expressions, views, every line on their faces. Having gone through life, I realized that I can not be always lucky to feel a person's sincere emotions, looking at his facial expressions. Each of us has a certain social role that unconsciously never ceases to fulfill, so the real emotions we keep behind the curtain. But what about individuals with mental illnesses?! The sincerity of their emotions is undeniable.
Admiring the emotional expression of this part of society, I eventually wrote the graduate thesis at the art school in Prague on this topic. The final project was a series of portraits called "Emotional Mirrors". Through them I aimed to tell a story of inner strength, fragility, and the powerful connection between our inner worlds and outer expressions.

🇬🇧 Mentally disabled people are an integral part of our society, but unfortunately, they are treated in a kind of alienated way. In the literature what I used to write my graduate thesis, the mentally disabled are conceptualized in a distinctly specific way. Emphasis is placed on the original and peculiar aesthetics of „outsiders“. But I would like to draw attention to the average humanity, the intuitive understanding, the instinctive acceptance of these specific as well as exemplary people. If we accept social norms as certain limits in emotional expression, then the objects of the study (the same „outsiders“) are the freest members of our society. To see this expression and to treat it not only with understanding, but also with encouragement for personal emotional behavior - such controversial tasks are what I consider in my project.
